Electro Homeopathy Medicines — Complete List & Uses Explained (2026)

📅 April 27, 2026✍️ MATTIE Trust India⏱ 10 min read

One of the most important topics in Electro Homeopathy (Electropathy) is understanding the medicines — their names, categories, uses, and disease indications. This guide provides a complete overview of Electro Homeopathy medicines as taught in the BEMS and DEMS curriculum.

How Are Electro Homeopathy Medicines Classified?

Count Cesare Mattei classified all diseases into two main categories based on which body fluid was primarily affected:

  • Sanguine (Blood) Diseases — disorders originating in the blood. These are treated with Electricità (E) group medicines.
  • Lymphatic (Lymph) Diseases — disorders originating in the lymphatic system. These are treated with Canceroso (C), Scrofoloso (S) and other lymphatic medicines.

A third category — General medicines — addresses conditions affecting the whole body regardless of origin, such as fever, worms, and respiratory conditions.

All medicines are numbered (e.g., E1, E2, C1, C2, S1, S2) and each number corresponds to a specific medicine prepared from different plant combinations.

Blood (Sanguine) Group — Electricità Medicines

The Electricità group (abbreviated E) targets diseases of the blood. These medicines help purify the blood, resolve blood-origin conditions, and restore healthy circulation.

🩸 Blood Group

Electricità (E1 – E20)

The primary blood-purifying medicines of Electro Homeopathy

The Electricità series contains multiple numbered medicines (E1 through E20), each prepared from specific plant combinations. They collectively address blood impurities, skin diseases arising from blood disorders, and systemic conditions with blood origin.

Skin diseases (blood origin) Blood purification Chronic skin conditions Tumours (blood type) Vascular disorders
🩸 Blood Group

Angiotico (A)

For blood vessel and circulatory system disorders

The Angiotico medicines act on the blood vessels and circulatory system. They are used for conditions involving poor circulation, vascular inflammation, and blood vessel-related disorders.

Poor circulation Vascular inflammation Blood pressure support Heart support (adjunct)

Lymph (Lymphatic) Group Medicines

Lymphatic group medicines target conditions arising from imbalances or impurities in the lymphatic system — glandular disorders, immune conditions, and chronic lymphatic disease.

🔵 Lymph Group

Canceroso (C1 – C20)

The primary lymph-purifying medicines

Despite the name "Canceroso," these medicines are NOT specifically for cancer treatment. They are used for a wide range of lymphatic and glandular conditions. The name reflects Count Mattei's 19th-century classification system where "cancerous" referred broadly to deep lymphatic conditions.

Lymphatic disorders Glandular swellings Chronic skin conditions (lymph type) Deep-seated chronic disease Tumours (lymph type)
🔵 Lymph Group

Scrofoloso (S1 – S20)

For scrofulous and lymphatic glandular conditions

The Scrofoloso medicines were classically used for scrofulous conditions — a term historically used for lymphatic gland swellings and tuberculosis-adjacent disorders. Today, they are used for glandular, lymphatic, and respiratory conditions with a lymphatic component.

Glandular enlargements Respiratory (lymph type) Cold & cough (chronic) Lymph node conditions Children's ailments

General Group Medicines

General medicines address conditions that affect the whole body or specific symptoms regardless of blood/lymph classification.

🌿 General

Febrifugo (F)

The fever medicine of Electro Homeopathy

Febrifugo (meaning "fever-reducing" in Italian) is one of the most widely used and historically celebrated Electro Homeopathy medicines. Count Mattei reportedly treated thousands of malaria cases with Febrifugo, earning his system widespread recognition.

All types of fever Malaria (historical use) Infectious fever Typhoid-type fevers
🌿 General

Vermifugo (V)

For worm and parasitic infections

Vermifugo is used for intestinal worms and parasitic infections — a very common complaint in rural India. It is particularly useful in children.

Intestinal worms Parasitic infections Abdominal complaints (worm origin)
🌿 General

Pettorali (P)

For chest and respiratory conditions

Pettorali (meaning "chest medicines") are used for respiratory diseases — cough, bronchitis, asthma-type conditions, and other chest complaints.

Cough & cold Bronchitis Asthma (supportive) Chest congestion
🌿 General

Sedativo (Se)

For nervous system conditions and pain

Sedativo medicines act on the nervous system, providing calming and pain-relieving effects for neurological and pain conditions.

Headaches & migraines Nerve pain Anxiety (supportive) Insomnia (supportive)
🌿 General

Digestivo (Di)

For digestive system conditions

Digestivo medicines target the digestive tract — addressing indigestion, gastric disorders, and intestinal complaints.

Indigestion Gastric complaints Constipation / diarrhoea Liver support

Forms of Electro Homeopathy Medicines

Electro Homeopathy medicines are available in several forms:

  • Drops (Tinctures): The most common form. Liquid plant extracts taken orally, usually diluted in water. Most EH medicines are available as numbered drops (e.g., E1 drops, C1 drops).
  • Ointments (Ungüento): For external application — skin conditions, wounds, joint pain, and topical complaints.
  • Granules / Globules: Small sugar-coated granules impregnated with the tincture — easier for children to take.
  • Cream preparations: Modern formulations for skin application.

Study Note for BEMS/DEMS Students: A deep understanding of EH Materia Medica — the study of all medicines and their uses — is a core part of the BEMS and DEMS curriculum at MATTIE Trust India. Students learn the complete repertoire of medicines, their indications, dosage, and prescribing principles over the course of their studies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. All Electro Homeopathy medicines are prepared from medicinal plants only — no chemicals, heavy metals, or synthetic compounds. They are generally considered safe and free of serious side effects when used correctly by a trained practitioner.

EH medicines are available from specialised Electro Homeopathy medicine stores, mainly in North India — UP, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan. Some online stores also stock EH medicines. Note that proper prescribing requires training — always consult a qualified practitioner.

Each number refers to a specific medicine formulation within that group. E1, E2... E20 are different Electricità medicines, each prepared from a different plant combination and targeting slightly different blood-related conditions. Similarly C1–C20 are different Canceroso medicines. The specific indications for each number are taught in BEMS/DEMS Materia Medica.

Despite the name, Canceroso medicines are NOT a cancer treatment. The name reflects Count Mattei's 19th-century classification where "cancerous" referred broadly to deep, chronic lymphatic conditions. Canceroso medicines are used for a wide range of lymphatic, glandular, and chronic conditions in modern EH practice.
